Hello New England:
The Premier Volleyball League (PVL) is a professional league run in conjunction with USAV. You can read about the league atusapvl.com. Each USAV region is invited to enter a team into the league. League championships are held at the USAV Nationals which will be in Detroit this year over Memorial Day weekend.
The New England Midnight Riders with be participating again this year and we will be looking to enter the strongest team possible into the competition. The team will practice from the end of December through May and will be entering a number of tournaments before Nationals. You may not be a member of another USAV region and tryout. You do not have to live in New England but you do need to be a member of NERVA if you make the team. We are inviting those that are rated a Yankee B and higher. If you do not have a Yankee rating you are welcome to tryout if you feel you are a high level player. We are playing against the best in the country!
Tryouts for the Women’s PVL team will be Sunday, December 7, 2014 from 6-8 PM and Sunday December 14, 2014 from 6-8 PM at the Sudbury Field House in Sudbury Ma.
Please email Judy Katalina (New England Midnight Riders GM) with any questions.
Hello New England,
NERVA is pleased to announce the New England Pre-Qualifier Volleyball Tournament to be held on March 8 and 9, 2014 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. This two day event will be held on 18 courts and host both a Girls Juniors tournament and Adult team level tournaments. This event will be run by NERVA in partnership with Joseph Volleyball Camps and has locked in dates thru 2017. Joseph Volleyball Camps is the current supplier of courts for Winterfest and has a strong partner relationship with NERVA.
In August it was announced that we did not acquire a USA Juniors Qualifier Bid. Since that time we have continued to work with the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center to establish an event in Boston. Through much work by all parties we have reached an agreement that will provide a much needed additional convention center tournament in our Region. We hope that this event will grow to a point where we can again be a viable choice for a potential USAV qualifier in the future.
Your NERVA Board continues to grow the sport of volleyball through additional programming. We wish to thank everyone involved in these efforts but mostly our members for their continued support.

Message from Dave Peixoto, NERVA Commissioner:
RE: Bid for a Juniors National Qualifier in Boston
Over the last few months, NERVA has been working in a partnership to bring about a Junior National Qualifier to Boston. After much work, a bid was submitted in June to the USA Volleyball advisory committee. The following cities bid on the event, Boston, Chicago, Columbus, Milwaukee, New Orleans and Salt Lake City. Â
The final 3 cities after the first cut were Boston, Chicago and New Orleans
We were informed today that Chicago has been awarded a JNQ. Although our bid was quite strong and viable, one of the main reasons for choosing Chicago was the overall volleyball population that the event would serve in that part of the country.
While we are very disappointed in the results we do understand. We wish to THANK everyone who has worked on this project along with all of those who have supported us. We will continue to develop volleyball programming in our region and support the programs we already have in place.
Your NERVA leadership will remain committed to develop the sport we love.

To all NERVA Members:
Over the past year eleven Regions have been working together to form a Buying Alliance. Our goal is to have vendors lower prices for USAV members. We are pleased to announce that we have some vendors in place and have launched our Alliance. Please remember this is just the beginning and we hope to add more vendors and better develop our site as time goes on. You must be a Current NERVA member to purchase from the site.

Hello New England,
We wanted to make sure that all club directors, coaches, team captains or anyone responsible for ordering and/or approving uniforms are aware of this upcoming change beginning in the 2014-15 season.
Beginning in the 2014-15 USAV season, the following verbiage will be used in regards to Libero jerseys contrasting with regular team jerseys.
As of SEPTEMBER 1, 2014, it is required that either the Libero or their teammates wear a solid color jersey. The solid color jersey must clearly contrast from the predominant color(s) of the teammates’ jersey. Predominant colors are those that appear on approximately half of the body of the uniform jersey.
To be considered solid colored:
- Sleeves must be the same color as the body of the jersey.
- Piping/trim not exceeding 1 inch in total at its widest point may be placed along the seams and may be a different color than the uniform jersey.
- Lettering and collars can be a different color than the body of the jersey.
- Numbers must be a contrasting color and meet all other specifications in Rule 4.3.3 and associated USAV regulations.
