Boston Volleyball Festival Fundraising opportunity for teams:
Again this year we have quite a few courts still available for set-up and tear-down for teams as a fund-raiser for this years Boston Volleyball Festival at the BCEC in downtown Boston.
Below are the details on court set-up and tear-down. If you are interested (or are not this year and know someone interested), please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and give me the following information:
1) How many people you have that are committed to set-up and tear-down?
2) How many courts you would like to take on?
3) Which days are you available for set-up? Wed OR Thu OR BOTH?
-Typically 5 adults can set up a court in about 75 minutes and tear one down in 45 minutes.
-After 2 or 3 courts per group productivity significantly drops off, so we pretty much try to limit groups to no more than 2 or 3 courts per every 5 or 6 people their first time doing it.
-Pay is $125 per court for set up and $75 per court for tear down.
-We will be setting up 58 courts on Wed, Feb 20 from 2-8pm and 26 courts on Thu, Feb 21 from 2 – 8pm and tearing down all 84 courts on Sun, March 5 between 4 and 9pm.
–MANDATORY – you MUST tear down as many courts as you put up in order to be paid for your work. The courts need to be out of the convention center by 11PM on Sunday night 2/24.
Set-up on Wed, Feb 20 (58 courts) and Thu, Feb 21 (26 courts)
Time Frame (2-8pm each day)
-You can arrive as early as 2pm to start setting up your courts, but we need all courts you signed up for finished by 8pm that day.
-You are on your own for parking. There are several lots close by so I would encourage you to carpool or take public transportation in if you do not want to pay for parking.
-We will be setting up in Halls B and C on Wednesday and Hall A on Thursday. More info on where to enter the facility for Wed will be provided later but on Thursday the North Lobby entrance is the easiest one to use to come in and down into the Hall.
-Upon arrival check-in at the Championship Desk Stage in Hall B (Just about dead center of that hall)
-We will assign you what court #’s you are setting up and show you where they are.
Duties for Set-up
-We will have carpet unrolled and first row of tile layed.
-For set-up we just need you to lay the tile for the courts you committed to.
Tear-down on Sunday, Feb 24th
Time Frame (4-8pm)
-You can arrive as early as 4pm to start tearing down your courts and no later than 5:30pm, but realize we may not have all courts done before 4:30 or even 5pm
-Again, you are on your own for parking. There are several lots close by so I would encourage you to carpool or take public transportation in if you do not want to pay for parking.
-Upon arrival check-in with AJ again at the Championship Desk under the Sky Bridge Between Halls A and B (Basically dead center of the two halls)
-He will assign you what court #’s you are setting up and show you where they are.
Duties for tear-down
-We will have equipment down and water barrels pushed off the courts
-You will take the poles, pads, ref stand pad, and ref stand to the staging area for equipment to be packed up
-You will need to rip the tile into 4 by 4 sheets and place into crates (flat edge out and pushed all the way in or you have to redo!!!!)
-You will also fold carpet in half and then roll TIGHTLY from fold toward open end (if not rolled tight enough you will have to redo!)
